4 Factors When Choosing Cheap Motocross Helmets

By: Milan Skoitious

Motocross is by no means a cheap sport, so if you are looking to get start with a few hundred dollars, then it is probably not a good idea. The equipment can be incredibly expensive, although there is plenty of money to be saved by searching around for the right deal on cheap motocross helmets.

There are many different things that need to be assessed before choosing a helmet, and here is what are considered the four most popular way to choose a deal. Always remember that the likes of comfort and safety should come before anything else.

1 - Comfort

Riding is no doubt an extremely tiring sport, so being as comfortable as you can be is extremely important to make sure you get the most out of your body. Cheap motocross helmets that are too big or small can hamper your progress in a race.

2 - How safe?

Having a helmet that is DOT and Snell approved is essential, as anything less if likely to be useless. Snell approved helmets are usually a little bit more expensive, but try and get a helmet that is certified by both safety standards if possible.

3 - How heavy?

The industry continues to progress year on year and helmets just seem to get lighter and lighter. Kevlar and carbon are the contributing factors, as they allow cheap motocross helmets to be built at ridiculously cheap prices.

4 - Graphics and design

There are seriously some amazing designs that come in and out of the market on a daily basis. The problem is, a lot of riders choose a helmet based on the design itself, when really they should be looking at other factors.

Top Tip: Always aim to buy cheap motocross helmets based on the safety standards and not the style.
