Gift ideas for fathers day

By: Efren Wickersheim

Fishing is one of the best ways to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside, so why not give your father the gift of some fishing equipment so he can take up this hugely rewarding pastime? It will give him a well deserved chance to get away from the rat race and enjoy some of that fresh country air whenever the mood takes him.

Golf is one of lifes greatest pleasures, and a great way to keep fit and enjoy the fresh air and countryside scenery, so why not get your dad a basic set of clubs to help him get started in this wonderful pastime. If your dad already has a set of clubs, you could get him a new driver, putter, or some accessories such as tees, club head covers, and golf balls.

If your dad loves nothing more than to kick back with a glass of fine wine, you might want to set him up with his very own wine cellar. If he already has a wine cellar, you could always add to it with a few bottles of fine wine from around the world for him to try.

If you fancy reminiscing about when your dad used to take you to the big game, why not buy some tickets to an upcoming sporting event? Even if your team loses, you can still have a great time catching up with him and talking about old times at the pub on the way home.

Personalised gifts are a great way to show just how much you appreciate your old dad. You could get him a mug with his name on it, a key ring embossed with his initials, or even a chocolate bar with a special message on it.

Shaving gets more difficult as you get older, as the hair on your face gets thicker and more stubborn. You can, however, make it more of a pleasure for your old man by treating him to a luxury shaving set, including a razor, replacement blades, aftershave, shaving foam, and a face towel.

Despite the ban on smoking in maternity hospitals, cigars are still inextricably linked with fatherhood. However, many people do not really like cigars, so if your dad is one of these people, why not get him a chocolate cigar for old times sake? Combine it with a bottle of cognac, and he will feel like a new father all over again.

Gardening is a particularly popular hobby with men of a certain age, so if your dad has green fingers, you might want to get him some choice gardening accessories, such as a new pair of secateurs, gardening gloves, or a good strong trowel to dig out those pesky weeds with.
