Know More About The Filipino Language

By: Henri Pendleton

My cousin and myself are going to take a trip to the islands of the Philippines. Many say that the country is astonishing and picturesque. I believe that planning in advance is required for any trip. Here are some of the things we did prior to the trip.

We made it our goal to find low cost tickets. The two of us visited search engines and spent time on popular websites to find out prices. We have acquaintances who have gone overseas recently so we sought their input. My friend asked from whom they managed to get their ticket and whether they believed the dollar amount they paid was inexpensive. One additional thing we did was read and we monitored the newspapers to learn if someone was having a sale on tickets. We also called around our town and looked into some ticket agencies. Once we found tickets we continued on to the next step.

I notified our employer that we that we would be flying overseas. Our employer agreed with the idea. In expectation of the journey overseas we took things a step further and marked our calendar. Luckily we found that during those dates that we would be in the Philippines no essential engagements were reserved. I had a few payments that would be due during the time that I would be away so I arranged to send them a check. The landlord has duplicates of my keys so I will ask her to keep an eye on my home while I am overseas. I do not own a cat but if I did I would find a friend to keep them while I am overseas.

I thought we had taken on the important issues but a buddy suggested that we should take a look at the weather forecasts to determine what the expected weather could be in the nation during our stay there. The Philippines from time to time has heavy downpours which can result in rivers of water. For this reason, we looked into the areas we will go to visit to discover if the weather would be good. This alone can determine if we will go.

My friend and I want to memorize many Tagalog phrases before visiting. The language spoken in the nation is Filipino (Tagalog). During the upcoming several weeks he and I are determined to practice our Tagalog speaking skills by quizzing each other. Daily when we have free time at work we want to practice and commit to memory several new phrases during that time.
Below are several vocabulary that might come in useful.
Welcome - Mabuhay
window - bintana
taxi - taksi
clothes - mga damit
college - kolehiyo
another - ibang
usually - karaniwan
dinner -hapunan

We want to relax in the PhPhilippineshilippine islands. We know someone who lives in the Philippines. We likely will visit him for a short time and perhaps he can be our guide on the weekends. The journey is not very far in the future and we are excited. A little less than two months left then we board the flight but I have already started setting aside some of the accessories I plan to carry. I most definitely plan to pack my Tagalog language lessons. I will be surrounded by fluent speakers so I hope to learn more of the Filipino language.
