By: JoyPool

It is important for a person who works with graphics and digital images to learn how to calibrate the computer monitor. Here are the steps to calibrate your monitor:

First check the resolution of the PC monitor screen. Choose the highest resolution available in your computer. For example if you have an LCD monitor, check the manual of your monitor and set its default resolution.
After setting the resolution, confirm that your computer screen is either 24-bit mode or in high color resolution. If you are using Windows, just right click on your desktop and pick the Graphic Properties or if you Mac computer then you have to go to Preferences and click on Displays to select the color as millions.
Then wait for some time, let your computer monitor warm up for about 20 to 30 minutes. Meanwhile, you can check whether any glare, reflections, or direct light hits your screen.
After that, give for test print out, select a photo and click it to print on glossy photo paper. To print out use a professional or high-quality printer then only you can see your monitor resolution finely. Selecting a daylight photo is good idea as it has many colors in it.
Then start to tune your contrast and brightness controls of your monitor. Then if you want you can use an online calibration test. Actually it is a great idea as there are many free tools available to test your monitor calibration, so use it.
Then open the image file in the monitor which you have to print and place the original printed copy of the same image near to it and compare the color, contrast and brightness of two pictures.
Then again tune the brightness, color and contrast levels of computer monitors till you get the same resolution as in the printed photo. This process is a time consuming process and do it in a perfect way otherwise it is of no use.
To get optimal performance from your computer Calibrate it once in two weeks or once in a month.
